First Phase of RCLG-NwSSU’s External Project with Almagro Set to Commence

On April 3, 2024, the RCLG-NwSSU external project, “Strategic ICT Evolution: Enhancing Local Government Network Connectivity and User Proficiency of the Municipality of Almagro,” received its initial funding. The project is headed by Mr. Nicolas Faller. Ms. Krishia Mae D. Jabonero, representing LGU-Almagro, visited NwSSU’s Office of Research Center for Local Governance to present a cheque for ₱886,178.00 to Mr. Faller. This contribution is part of the project’s total funding of ₱2,241,910.00 and signals the start of the project’s first phase, which focuses on network infrastructure enhancement.

NwSSU ‘s BSCS Program achieves AACUP Re-accreditation

Northwest Samar State University (NwSSU) is proud to announce that its Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) program has once again been accredited with Level III status by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP). Following a rigorous assessment conducted by AACCUP Inc. from November 22 to 24, 2022, the BSCS program at NwSSU demonstrated excellence across various criteria, earning its Level 3 accreditation status. This accreditation, effective from December 1, 2023, signifies the BSCS program’s compliance to AACCUP’s standards, affirming its status as a reputable institution for computer science education. This accomplishment is a testament to the dedication and hard work of those involved in the program’s continuous enhancement and development. NwSSU extends its heartfelt congratulations to the BSCS program’s faculty, staff, and administrators who were instrumental to the attainment of this accolade. #RISENwSSU

CHED awards NwSSU-Main Campus its COPC for BPED Program

Northwest Samar State University (NwSSU) Main Campus has reached another milestone in its pursuit of academic excellence as it recently received from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) the Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) for the Bachelor of Physical Education Program. Under the provisions of the Higher Education Act of 1994, the COPC signifies NwSSU-Main Campus’ fulfillment of CHED’s standards for offering the Bachelor of Physical Education program. This certification, effective for the Academic Year 2023-2024, underscores the institution’s commitment to maintaining high-quality education and adhering to the regulatory requirements. The rigorous evaluation process for the COPC took place on January 31, 2024, where NwSSU-Main Campus showed its adherence to CHED’s prescribed standards and requirements. Following thorough assessment and validation, the COPC was officially awarded on February 14, 2024, marking a significant achievement for the university. The entire NwSSU community, particularly the College of Education, rejoices in this momentous occasion. Mission Complete! NwSSU Main Campus holds ROTC Games 2024

On March 27, 2024, Northwest Samar State University (NwSSU) hosted the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) Games 2024, marking a week of camaraderie and teamwork on the campus grounds. Organized by the NwSSU ROTC Unit in collaboration with the Department of Military Science and Tactics, the event saw enthusiastic participation from the NwSSU ROTC Cadets. The events commenced with an inspiring remark by Sgt. Ryan Emil T. Zosa, the University Director for the National Service Training Program (NSTP). The NwSSU Oval Grounds buzzed with excitement as participants engaged in friendly competitions, such as, the FunShoot-Steel challenge, Color Wars and Airsoft Challenge where participants showcased their marksmanship skills, synchronized movements, impeccable discipline, and the importance of teamwork in dynamic environments. The ROTC Games 2024 not only showcased the physical prowess of the participants, but also reinforced the values of leadership, excellence, and service instilled through the ROTC program.

NwSSU welcomes representatives from Safe and Resilient Universities (SAFER-U) Project, and University of the Philippines Resilience Institute Researchers for Onsite Visit

The onsite visit will include activities such as Hazard Validation Workshop, integration of the technical validation outputs, risk maps, and among others into the Land Use Development and Infrastructure Plan of NwSSU. The team is led by SAFER-U Co-project Leader Dr. Emmanuel M. Luna.

Fiscal Year 2023 Year End Evaluation and Cascading of Targets

Attended by the top management including the President, Vice President, Heads, and Directors, the Year End Evaluation and Cascading of Targets was held this December 18, 2023 at Business Development Center, NwSSU. The activity started with plenary sessions by Ms. Jonah L. Salcedo, Planning Director in which she discussed the following- Strategic Plan Year 1 Implementation Status and Key Insights: Enhancing Organizational Growth, PBB Projected Results and Other Updates, and Presentation of the Proposed Harmonized Graduate Tracer Working Components. It was followed by parallel sessions on Year-End Evaluation of the different departments and offices under the Academic Division, RIE Division, Administrative Division, and San Jorge Campus. In the afternoon was the presentation and cascading of targets by Dr. Ramil S. Catamora of Academic Division, Dr. Riz Rupert L. Ortiz of RIE Division, Engr. Rhio C. Dimakiling in the Admin Division, and Dr. Reynaldo R. Aquino of San Jorge Campus.This annual activity aims to strengthen the goals and objectives of the university by assessing the implementation of programs and activities of each department and office, and targeting greater heights in the next fiscal year.

18-Day Campaign to End VAW culminates

Republic Act No. 10398 declares November 25 of Every Year as the “National Consciousness Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Children”. In connection, November 25 to December 12 of every year was declared as the “18-day Campaign to End VAW” in the Philippines. With this, the Northwest Samar State University- Office of Gender and Development conducted a joint program with NwSSU Multi-Purpose Cooperative for a Culmination Activity of the 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women on December 12, 2023 at RSU Socio-Cultural Center, NwSSU.   The activity highlighted important topics such as RA 9995- Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009 and RA 11596- Anti-Child Marriage Act discussed by Atty. Shirly Bohol-Matados, and Solo Parent Welfare Act explained by Betty Jane Arnejo, RSW. It was followed by the awarding of cash prizes and certificates to the winners of Poster Making Contest in which Ainah Erica Solayao got the first place, followed by Jeff Angelo Galing, Aquiluz Deliquina in the third spot, Frances Mike Mahinay for the fourth, and John Lloyd Mayolathe in the fifth place. An inspirational talk of Mr. Cornelio Bautista, Chairman of NwSSU Multi-Purpose Cooperative also ensued.
