Office Description

The Gender Development (GAD) Office is dedicated to promoting gender equality, inclusivity, and empowerment among all members of the university community. It actively implements programs, policies, and initiatives that address gender – related concerns and advocate for the rights and well – being of NwSSU community through gender Mainstreaming. To strengthen its mission and connect with the local community, the GAD Office introduced the local name CASUGBONG, which stands for Community that Adapts Sustainable Unparalleled Gender – inclusive Beneficial Opportunities and Nurturing Governance. In layman’s term this means, “kaakibat, kapantay, kaagapay, and karamay”. This brand symbolizes the office’s commitment to fostering a progressive, inclusive, and empowered community where everyone has access to equal opportunities.

The Gender and Development Office/CASUGBONG of NwSSU envisions a future where gender equality, inclusivity, and empowerment are seamlessly integrated into the university’s fabric, fostering a safe, diverse and vibrant environment for all fostering a culture of respect, understanding, and collaboration among all members of the university community.

Mission

The Office of CASUGBONG of NwSSU is dedicated in promoting and ensuring gender equality, inclusivity, and empowerment among men and women within the university community. Through strategic initiatives, advocacy, education and collaboration we strive to create an atmosphere that foster a culture of respect for diverse identities and creating opportunities for dialogue and collaboration to address gender – related issues effectively. By nurturing a holistic understanding of gender – related issues, we aim to produce graduate not only globally competitive , socially responsible, equipped to positively impact the changing world.

GOAL

  1. Promote Awareness and Education: Raise awareness about gender – related issues and provide educational program that foster understanding and empathy among students, faculty and staff.
  2. Enusre Inclusivity: Create a welcoming environment that values diversity and promotes inclusivity, where all members of the university fell respected and supported.
  3. Empowerment Programs: develop initiatives that empower individuals to challenge stereotype, build self -confidence, and contribute effectively to their academic and professional pursuit.
  4. Advocate  for Equal Opportunities: Collaborate with university departments to ensure that all genders have equal access to opportunities, resources, and leadership positions.
  5. Engage in Research and Extensions: Conduct research extension activities on gender -related issues to inform policies and strategies that promote gender equality and social change.
  6. Policy and Advocacy: Advocate for gender -sensitive policies and practices within the university while actively participating in broader discussions on gender equality and social justice.
  7. Collaborate Externally: Partner with external organization, LGU’s NGO’s and community groups to contribute in regional and national efforts toward gender equality.
  8. Measure Progress: Regularly assess the impact of the office’s initiatives, adjusting strategies as needed to achieve meaningful and sustainable change
