Northwest Samar State University
Northwest Samar State University (NwSSU), formerly known as Tiburcio Tancinco Memorial Institute of Science and Technology, is a public university with its main campus located in Calbayog City and extension campus in San Jorge, Samar. The university envisions to provide transformative education where graduates are globally competitive, innovative, and responsive to the demands of a changing world. It is mandated to provide advanced education, higher technological, professional instruction and training in trade, fishery, agriculture, science, education, commerce, engineering, forestry, nautical courses and other related fields.

The International Organization for Standardization recertifies Northwest Samar State University with 16 programs awarded with Certificate of Program Compliance by the Commission on Higher Education and majority of 43 programs with accreditation status. The university is awarded as one of Asia’s Outstanding Academic Institutions by CMO Asia in Pan Pacific, Singapore.
The award is given to institutions who have excelled in leadership, innovation, and industry interface, evidenced by strong academic and administrative management. With the presence of its state-of-the-art facilities, the University also produces top-notch graduates in education, engineering, agriculture, and other programs.
