NwSSU, Samar PLGU convene for collab programs and activities

University top management officials led by OIC – University President, Dr. Ramil S. Catamora and representatives from the Provincial Local Government of Samar led by Provincial PESO Manager, Mr. John Michael Cristobal held a meeting today, July 24 at the University Hotel and Restaurant to discuss the implementation of agreed programs and activities. These are the Affirmative Action Plan for students belonging to the ‘poorest of the poor’ class, enrollment of PLGU employees into the Special Academic Program, and the activities in line with the celebration of Samar Day which are the Showdown and Parade of Festivals, and the Governor’s Night. Present in the meeting were Provincial Youth Development Officer, Jhunlie E. Escala, SIRAK Kabataan Focal Person, Ysabel Karla Aquino, Provincial Tourism Officer, Marvin R. Piczon, Human Resource Management Officer IV, Evan Kristine R. Siazon, NwSSU Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Engr. Rhio C. NwSSU’s BSFT Program Receives CHED8’s Certificate of Program Compliance

Today, the Bachelor of Science in Food Technology(BSFT) has been awarded with Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) by none other than the CHED8 Regional Director himself, Dir. Maximo C. Aljibe.The said award was received by the University President, Dr. Benjamin L. Pecayo, VP for Academic Affairs, Dr. Ramil S. Catamora, CAT Dean, Dr. Lorelie F. Tangaran, Board Secretary, Engr. Roy Montejo and faculty of the College, Mr. Fernando Gariando and Mr. Emerald Chavez. The college is indebted to the hardworking Core Faculty of BSFT, Ms. Norfrelij Cuadra, the Program Chairperson, Ms. Nelissa Sudaria and Ms. Maria Joana Nicolas, and to all CAT faculty for their joint effort to make this possible.Likewise, the CAT family would like to thanks the NwSSU Administration headed by Dr. Pecayo for their unwavering support and unceasing encouragement.

UNICEF and the Center for Women’s Studies Foundation, Inc. of the University of the Philippines in partnership with Northwest Samar State University as local academe partner in the implementation of the project “Development and Learning Loss Recovery: Strengthening Systems for Capacity Building of Child Development Workers (CDWs) and Child Development Teachers (CDTs)”

UNICEF and the Center for Women’s Studies Foundation, Inc. of the University of the Philippines in partnership with Northwest Samar State University as local academe partner in the implementation of the project “Development and Learning Loss Recovery: Strengthening Systems for Capacity Building of Child Development Workers (CDWs) and Child Development Teachers (CDTs)” conducted a 2-day rollout training for Child Development Workers, Child Development Teachers, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers, and PS ECCD focal persons of the LGUs of Catarman, Mondragon, and Lope de Vega last May 11-12, 2023 at the LIGA Building and Kaella Restaurant, Catarman, Northern Samar. The rollout training which was on its 2nd phase was attended by one hundred fifteen participants.

SOCOTEC Audit concludes; NwSSU recertified

“𝘐𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦, 𝘪𝘵 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘢 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘺𝘦𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺.” Engr. Rhio C. Dimakiling, Vice President for Administrative Affairs, commended the entire workforce after its first annual surveillance audit on May 22–23, 2023, which resulted in recertification. The surveillance was after the assessment and accreditation of NwSSU’s Quality Management System (QMS) for ISO 9001:2015 standards and the university’s rectification last March 9, 2022, by SOCOTEC (formerly AJA Registrars). The SOCOTEC Audit Team included Lead Auditor Marisse Cruz, Mark Anthony Ilagan, and Arcel Andres. The team audited the university’s QMS, covering the context of organization presented by the top management: internal audit, control of documented information, library services, guidance services, school plants, facilities, and infrastructure development office, security services, student affairs and services, tertiary education, including laboratory and curriculum development, the registrar’s office, human resources, research and extension, and management review. The auditors’ deliberation followed. At the closing meeting, the lead auditor presented the summary report and audit debriefing, where the best practices, opportunities for improvement, and minor non-conformities were discussed. Overall, the university had no major non-conformities and was recertified. Post audit deliverables will be available after 10 working days.

UNICEF in partnership with UP Center for Women’s Studies Foundation Inc., and NwSSU through the Office of Gender and Development conducted a 4-day Training Workshop for Child Development Workers and Child Development Teachers of LGU-Mapanas, Northern Samar last April 11-14, 2023. As a manifestation of gratitude and support, the opening remarks was attended by Mapanas Vice Mayor Luisa Barbara Tejano, and Municipal Councilors – Melchor Capoquian, and Luckie Longcop. In her opening remarks, Vice Mayor Tejano thanked the organizers for their efforts of implementing the program in the Municipality of Mapanas. She also commended them for including the topic “Inclusion” in the program.Similar training rollouts will be conducted to other LGU partners in the coming months.
