Hosted by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and led by DICT Secretary- Ivan John E. Uy, Northwest Samar State University participated in the first ever Chief Information Officer (CIO) Conference, held at the Rizal Park Hotel in Manila on December 4, 2024.

The eventgathered over 600 CIOs from national government agencies, government-owned and controlled corporations, and state universities and colleges. Engr. Eugene Calong, University Network Administrator, and Engr. Nicko G. De Guzman, University Website Administrator, represented NwSSU at the conference, which aimed to advance the digital and technological transformation within the Philippine government.

A key highlight of the event was the official launch of the CIO Council, established under Republic Act No. 10844, which will be pivotal in driving ICT initiatives and the country’s digital evolution.

The conference also featured the ceremonial launch of the eGov Roadmap and the eGovernment Masterplan, along with the signing of a Tripartite Memorandum of Understanding for eGovernment. This agreement among DICT, the CIO Forum, and the CIO Forum Foundation aims to accelerate digital transformation across government sectors and align initiatives with the eGovernment Masterplan (EGMP), focusing on harmonizing ICT projects and improving public services nationwide.

 

Noteworthy attendees also included ARTA Secretary Ernesto V. Perez, Governance Commission for GOCCs Chairperson Atty. Marius P. Corpus, ARTA Undersecretary Gerald G. Divinagracia, DBM Undersecretary Maria Francesca Del Rosario, and DICT Director Maria Victoria C. Castro.
