
The College of Nursing of Northwest Samar State University (NwSSU) hosted a Parents’ Consultative Assembly on February 18, 2025, at the Nursing Amphitheater. The event brought together parents of nursing students, faculty members, and administrators to discuss academic policies, student concerns, and institutional guidelines. The event served as a platform to ensure transparency and strengthen collaboration between educators and parents in shaping the academic journey of the learners.

Dr. Ramil S. Catamora, Vice-President for Academic Affairs, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the significance of open communication in addressing challenges within the nursing program. He highlighted the university’s commitment to maintaining high educational standards while ensuring students receive the necessary support to excel in their field.

Mr. Carl Neill M. Del Rosario, Program Chair of the College of Nursing (CON), provided the rationale for the assembly, underscoring its role in keeping parents informed about academic matters. He stressed the importance of involvement in students’ education.

Dr. Bianca Genel B. Bedio, Dean of the College of Nursing, introduced the College of Nursing faculty to the parents and led discussions on the faculty schedule, fees, and course requirements to establish rapport and transparency. She also outlined and explained their allocation schedules for everyone’s clarity, emphasizing how these investments are necessary to ensure the learners receive proper skills and knowledge that meet professional standards.

The assembly covered various topics, including the academic calendar, student discipline, and Related Learning Experience (RLE) policies. Ms. Rosilda D. Macapanas, Level – 1 Adviser, and Mr. Carl Neill M. Del Rosario provided comprehensive explanations of these policies, emphasizing the need for professionalism and adherence to ethical standards.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Bedio, who reiterated the College of Nursing’s dedication to producing competent and ethical professionals. She expressed gratitude to the parents for their active participation and support, affirming that continuous discussions between the faculty, students, and parents remain essential in ensuring transparency and fairness.
