The Northwest Samar State University (NwSSU) Institutional Student Supreme Council (ISSC) hosted a unique series of events on February 14 to celebrate Valentine’s Day, offering students opportunities to give back to the community, prioritize self-care, and celebrate with friends.

The event, titled “Hello, Maharuyo Again! Special Valentine’s Day Celebration”, included multiple activities for Norwesians to enjoy. A bloodletting activity was held on the 4th Floor of the Admin Building in partnership with Calbayog District Hospital – Blood Collecting Unit, encouraging everyone to donate blood and help save lives.

Reaffirming the importance of self-care, free HIV testing was also offered in partnership with Calbayog City Health Office at the University Clinic for those who wish to know their status. Knowing one’s HIV status is crucial for early detection and treatment, and the ISSC aims to promote awareness and education on this important issue.

Other activities included free Champorado served at the SCUAA Stage for the NwSSU community to enjoy, as well as Valentine’s Day gifts and presents at affordable prices for those looking to express their appreciation to loved ones.
With these activities, the ISSC aims to make Valentine’s Day more meaningful by promoting health, appreciation, and care among students. Beyond romantic celebrations, the council hopes to emphasize the importance of self-care, empathy, and camaraderie, making the occasion not just about love, but also about compassion and well-being.
