As the third president of Northwest Samar State University (NwSSU), Dr. Benjamin L. Pecayo brings a wealth of experience, passion, and dedication to his leadership role. Born on March 31, 1966, to a family with roots in Eastern Samar, Dr. Pecayo has built a remarkable academic and professional journey.
A distinguished achiever, Dr. Pecayo earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Eastern Visayas State University in 1987 and passed the Mechanical Engineers Licensure Examination the following year. He furthered his education with a master’s degree in Management Engineering from the University of San Jose-Recoletos in Cebu City and a PhD in Education Management from Northwest Samar State University.
Fondly known as “Benjie,” Dr. Pecayo’s teaching career spans over three decades, beginning at Tiburcio Tancinco Memorial Institute of Science and Technology in 1988. He has since been an integral part of the institution’s growth and transformation into Northwest Samar State University in 2009.
