Northwest Samar State University (NwSSU) and Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) formally entered into a partnership through the ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) held on July 29, 2025, at the Ateneo de Manila University campus in Quezon City.

The agreement was signed by Fr. Roberto C. Yap, S.J., President of Ateneo de Manila University, and Dr. Rhio Dimakiling, Vice President for Administration and Finance who represented NwSSU President Dr. Benjamin L. Pecayo

This collaboration aims to strengthen both institutions’ commitments to academic advancement, research development, and extension services. It outlines several areas of cooperation, including the exchange of academic resources, joint research initiatives, and the implementation of educational programs and professional development activities.

To facilitate the coordination and implementation of these initiatives, the Ateneo Intellectual Property Office (AIPO) will represent Ateneo de Manila University. Meanwhile NwSSU’S Project Development Unit has been designated as the representative for NwSSU.

The ceremonial signing was witnessed by Dr. Raphael A. Guerrero, Dean of the AdMU School of Science and Engineering; Dr. Ramil S. Catamora, Vice President for Academic Affairs of NwSSU; Mr. Benjamin N. Mirasol, Head of Ateneo’s Commercialization, Technology, and Business Incubation; and Mr. Redem D. Tingzon, Head of NwSSU’s Project Development Unit and Director of NwSSU-ETEEAP.

The partnership between NwSSU and Ateneo de Manila University underscores a mutual commitment to advancing higher education through collaboration, resource sharing, and innovation. By working together, both institutions aim to enhance academic capacity, broaden learning opportunities, and contribute meaningfully to national development.
