NwSSU Condcuct 3- Day Seminar – Workshop on Graduate Program Revision

The Northwest Samar State University Graduate School hosted a three-day seminar-workshop focusing on the revision of the Graduate Program Manual of Operations and curriculum mapping held at the Administration Conference Room on January 15 to 17, 2025. The event gathered the Graduate School program chairpersons, faculty members, and resource speakers to strengthen the university’s graduate programs. The opening day centered on curriculum revision. Participants engaged in a hands-on workshop to revisit and revise the Graduate School Curriculum. The activity encouraged collaboration among faculty members to address gaps and strengthen the relevance of academic offerings. On the second and third day, the session on CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) 15, series of 2019 was tackled which outlines the policies, standards, and guidelines for graduate programs in the country, and the participants conducted an assessment of the university’s Graduate Program Manual of Operations (GPMO) against the CMO 15 standards. NwSSU Hosts RIE Seminar on Scholarly Publishing

Last December 12, 2024, the Research, Innovation and Extension of Northwest Samar State University successfully conducted a seminar series on “Publication of Scholarly Papers in SCOPUS, WoS, and ACI Journals for Faculty Researchers” at the RIE Conference Room. The seminar, led by Engr. Ronald L. Orale, PhD, Professor VI of Samar State University, was designed to prepare and provide faculty researchers publishing strategies for top-tier journals. The topics covered included fundamentals and journal matching, fundamentals of research publishing, structuring a research paper, writing with AI and technology, and finalizing manuscripts. The event concluded with peer feedback and a group photo, marking a productive day of learning and innovation. This milestone advances the mission of the university in producing high impact researches and innovative solutions responsive to the local and global communities.

NwSSU honors Tambis for Top 7 Finish in LEPT

Northwest Samar State University recognized its alumnus, Mr. Darryl D. Tambis, for securing 7th place in the September 2024 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers. The awarding ceremony took place on January 2, 2024, at the President’s Office. During the ceremony, Mr. Tambis was presented with a cash incentive amounting to Php 70,000.00, in accordance with Board of Regents Resolution No. 10, Series of 2016, which mandates the university to honor the top ten placers in the PRC Licensure Examinations. The ceremony was attended by Dr. Myra L. Pilpa, Director of Student Affairs and Services; Dr. Ramil S. Catamora, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Engr. Rhio C. Dimakiling, Vice President for Administrative Affairs; and Dr. Benjamin L. Pecayo, University President. Dr. Pecayo personally handed the incentive to Mr. Tambis and extended his commendation for the alumnus’ exemplary performance.

NwSSU BTLED Program Moves Closer to CHED Compliance

TACLOBAN CITY, January 27 – Northwest Samar State University (NWSSU) officials received positive feedback from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office regarding the university’s efforts to secure a Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) for its Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLED) program. A delegation from NWSSU’s College of Education, led by Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Ramil S. Catamora, met with CHED officials to present updates on the program’s compliance status. The team included SAS Director Dr. Myra L. Pilpa, Dean of the College of Education Dr. Jannel C. Alviola, and BTLED Program Chair Mrs. Christy B. De Veyra. The visit yielded an encouraging response from CHED officials, marking a critical milestone in the program’s journey toward compliance. CHED officials acknowledged the university’s progress in addressing gaps in program administration and provided positive feedback on the program’s compliance status. The COPC is a crucial certification that ensures higher education institutions meet CHED’s standards for quality education in specific degree programs. Once granted, the certification will solidify the BTLED program’s standing as a CHED-compliant course, boosting its credibility and aligning it with CHED’s quality assurance framework. NWSSU remains optimistic as it awaits CHED’s final evaluation and issuance of the COPC. This milestone underscores the university’s commitment to producing competent educators equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary through quality education. Further updates will be provided as the process progresses.
