NwSSU holds training on Food Safety, Sanitation, and Waste Management

Today, September 27, 2024 – The Auxiliary Services and Business Affairs Office (ASBAO) successfully hosted the Training-Seminar on Food Safety, Sanitation, and Waste Management held at the 2nd Floor of the Business Development Center, NwSSU. The event also included a consultation on the use of personal utensils, meal boxes, and tumblers for availing food services. The seminar commenced with an opening remark from Engr. Rhio C. Dimakiling, Vice President for Administrative Affairs, representing Dr. Benjamin L. Pecayo, University President. This was followed by an informative speech on the new Food Court Guidelines by Ms. Toni Charm B. Calag, University Nurse III. Ms. Maria Joana T. Nicolas, Registered Nutritionist and NwSSU Instructor, led the first session, focusing on food safety, preparation, and the production of nutritious meals. The topic was further discussed by Ms. Mvria Norfrelij J. Cuadra, PFT. Moreover, GSO Campus Development Office representative, Engr. Darwin Tan and Engr. John Dale Yabao, GSO R&M Division Head, discussed the Waste Management System with Workshop Developing Waste Management Plan. The session concluded with a consultation with survey led by Ms. Florabel Canaman, ASBAO Director, test evaluation, and the distribution of certificates to the participants.This initiative reflects NwSSU’s commitment to fostering a healthy and sustainable campus environment. By educating the community on food safety and waste management, the university aims to create a safer and more environmentally responsible campus for all.

College of Nursing Welcome Firs-Year Pioneering Class thru the Comprehensive Orientation

The College of Nursing officially welcomed its pioneering first-year class on September 20, 2024, with a comprehensive orientation program held at the NwSSU Business Development Center. The event gathered the Faculty, Staff, GEC Instructors, Part-time Lecturers, the Technical Working Group (TWG), and BSN students and their parents/guardians, along with key university officials including Dr. Ramil S. Catamora, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Myra L. Pilpa, Director of Student Affairs and Services. The orientation provided the new students with an in-depth understanding of the University’s Vision, Mission, Core Values, and Quality Policy, ensuring they are well-prepared to embark on their academic journey. Essential guidelines specific to the College of Nursing were also discussed, giving students a clear perspective on academic expectations and the resources available to them. This orientation marks a significant milestone for the College of Nursing, signifying the launch of a new chapter in the University’s commitment to cultivating future healthcare professionals.

Free Acupuncture Treatment at 2nd Floor BDC, NwSSU Main Campus

Interested clients are advised to proceed to the Cashier’s Office Lobby for the registration, and Healthy Lifestyle class to prevent hypertension, diabetes, and obesity. 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬: The activity will run until 6:00 P.M. only. Chiropractic treatment is not offered today.

Free Acupuncture Treatment 2023

PRICK AND RELIEVE | Beneficiaries availed the Free Acupuncture Treatment served by KOR-PHIL Traditional Acupuncture- Moxibustion Research Institute Clinic and UN-NGO WFAS Free Clinic Service Group at Business Development Center, NwSSU, February 12. The ribbon-cutting ceremony and brief introduction marked the beginning of the activity. Prior to the actual treatment, patients underwent initial health exams and were interviewed. Acupuncture is a traditional Oriental medicine-based approach to cure variety of diseases using needles by triggering specific points on the skin. Several patients also received chiropractic treatment in addition to acupuncture. “Salamat kay naka-avail kami sini for free. Kaupay san pamati after. Gidara ko liwat si nanay didi kay para ma-treat or gumaan an iya kondisyon,” one of the beneficiaries elucidated. “These health services provided are very good project of the University to help people in Calbayog. Hopefully the partnership will extend and expand to have an Acupuncture Clinic inside the University and form part as extension program through giving free health care,” Dr. Benjamin Pecayo- University President said in an interview. Due to the number of recipients present, the service was extended until 6 p.m.
