CALBAYOG CITY, Philippines —Student researchers from Northwest Samar State University – College of Management (NwSSU-COM) are heading to the national stage after topping the Student Tourism and Hospitality Education and Research Congress (STHERC) 2026 Visayas Cluster Regional Competition.
The research group, led by Jioielli Daveren G. Gito along with members Jhon Lloyd S. Alviola and Lhance Joseph G. Dela Cruz, clinched the Top 1 Best in Research and Best Presenter Award for their study, “Proper Stock Utilization: Preventing Kitchen Inventory Imbalance in Selected Hotels in Calbayog City,” earning NwSSU-COM a slot at the STHERC National Competition.
NwSSU-COM was represented in the regional congress by two research entries from the Hospitality Management program:
