Northwest Samar State University (NwSSU), led by newly elected University President Atty. Lorelie Fabillar-Tangaran, DM, paid a courtesy visit to the Office of Sta. Margarita Mayor Felix Roma Panganoron on May 18, 2026, to reaffirm collaborative efforts between the University and Sta. Margarita’s Local Government Unit.

Discussions during the meeting centered on strengthening partnership programs on multi-sectoral capacity building, project planning and implementation, particularly in the areas of social welfare and development, agriculture, natural resources, solid waste management, tourism, and Shared Service Facilities (SSF) for MSME development.

The meeting also touched on initial discussions for the possible opening of new undergraduate and technical-vocational programs at the Main Campus, as well as early-stage planning for a potential extension campus in Sta. Margarita that may offer a Marine Engineering program under NwSSU.

Joining President Tangaran during the visit were Dr. Teodoro A. Amatosa, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension; Mr. Jake B. Calagos, CHRA, Director of the Information Unit; and Mr. Jacinto V. Calagos, Jr., Executive Assistant to the Mayor.
 
The engagement reflects NwSSU’s continuing commitment to strengthening partnerships with local government units in advancing accessible, responsive, and community-centered education and innovation initiatives.
