Another beacon of scholarly excellence shines brightly at Northwest Samar State University.

With immense pride and admiration, the University celebrates the remarkable research achievement of FOR. EDUARDO G. ESPEJON, JR., Director of Research, Innovation, and Extension of the NwSSU–San Jorge Campus and dedicated Bachelor of Science in Forestry faculty member, whose latest scholarly work has reached the global academic stage through the successful publication of his research titled:

“Carbon Dynamics of Tropical Forests and Their Role in Climate Change Mitigation: A Bibliometric Analysis (2000–2025).”

Published in the Indian Journal of Agricultural Research, a Scopus-indexed international journal (June 2026), this groundbreaking study offers a comprehensive bibliometric exploration of global research on carbon dynamics in tropical forests spanning the years 2000 to 2025. Through an in-depth analysis of publication trends, scientific collaborations, influential scholarly works, and emerging research frontiers, the study maps the evolving landscape of knowledge surrounding one of the planet’s most vital natural ecosystems.

More than mapping scientific trends, the study highlights the vital role of tropical forests as natural carbon sinks that sustain biodiversity, regulate the climate, and help mitigate climate change. Its findings provide valuable insights to strengthen sustainable forest management, inform environmental policies, and advance evidence-based conservation efforts.

As the world confronts growing environmental challenges, this publication serves as a meaningful contribution to global scientific knowledge, reinforcing the power of research in building a more sustainable and climate-resilient future.

This noteworthy publication reflects Northwest Samar State University’s unwavering pursuit of research excellence and its enduring commitment to generating knowledge that advances environmental sustainability, strengthens climate resilience, and contributes to the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through impactful scholarship, the University continues to empower innovation, inspire meaningful change, and create lasting contributions to both local and global communities.

Congratulations to For. Eduardo G. Espejon, Jr. for this remarkable scholarly accomplishment and for bringing honor and distinction to Northwest Samar State University through his impactful contribution to forestry and climate change research.
