In a proactive move towards sustainable tourism, Northwest Samar State University (NwSSU) participated in shaping Samar’s Sustainable Strategic Tourism Development Plan 2025-2034 by joining a Site Attraction Evaluation across the province from February 18-22, 2025.

Representing NwSSU’s Tourism Management program, Assistant Professors Ghilson B. Amor and Mia Cheryl E. Casiracan assessed cities and municipalities, identifying and evaluating potential and existing tourist attractions that align with sustainable development goals.
This project is a collaborative effort with the University of Santo Tomas College of Tourism and Hospitality Management, represented by Assistant Professor Jame Monren Mercado, the UST Center for Conservation of Cultural Property and Environment in the Tropics (CCCPET), represented by Ms. Beverly M. Bautista, and the Samar Provincial Tourism Office, represented by Mr. Mario R. Piczon.
