DOT Beijing Office, Beifang Automotive Education Group, NwSSU meet for Vocational Education Exchange and Cooperation
The Philippine Department of Tourism-Beijing Office represented by Tourism Councilor, Dr. Erwin F. Balane hosted a virtual meeting with Beifang Automotive Education Group, represented by its General Manager, Lilly Han and NwSSU led by Dr. Benjamin L. Pecayo to initiate preparations in forging a future vocational partnership agreement, today September 6 via zoom.The meeting encapsulates the discussions and presentations of Beifang Automotive Group and Northwest Samar State University. Through live overview, the Beifang Automotive Group in China offers research and development of automotive teaching aids, curriculum system design, full textbook compilation, supporting online courses, free teacher training, production and sales integration of production and education services, and focuses on the professional construction needs of vocational colleges. Meanwhile, NwSSU University Profile and Program presenter, Dr. Lorelie F. Tangaran oriented the attendees on the goals and programs of the university. The future partnership will focus on faculty and student training in automotive repair and maintenance through cross-learning activities, on-the-job training, and laboratory development. Future collaboration in other fields such as hospitality management, information technology, education, and engineering was also eyed. The participants agreed for drafting of MOA/MOU for review of both parties.
Pinning Ceremony of the NwSSU QRT members
An important milestone in a first aider student’s life is the pinning ceremony, which signifies their advancement from student to professional rescuer. Symbolism, tradition, and rites of passage are some of the main factors that help explain the reasoning behind the pinning ceremony. All things considered, the justification for a pinning ceremony in QRT stems from custom, symbolism, professionalism, solidarity, and the commemoration of an important turning point in the lives of first aider students as they enter the honorable field of first aid. The pinning ceremony emphasizes the importance of professionalism in being a First Aider. It instills a sense of pride, responsibility, and accountability as they prepare to enter the workforce and care for patients. QS rates NwSSU as a 3-star University
August 30, 2023 – Global higher education analyst, and the compiler of the QS World University Rankings, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Intelligence Unit, informed the NwSSU management that it has completed its evaluation and rated the University as a 3-Star university. The QS Stars rating system aims to give prospective students an additional tool to use when choosing a university, providing deeper insights into individual institutions. NwSSU was rated with star performance ratings in the following categories: Teaching (5 stars), Inclusiveness (5 stars), Academic Development (4 stars), Employability (4 stars), Facilities (4 stars), Specialist Criteria – Education & Training (3 stars), and Social Responsibility (3 stars). With an overall 3-Star rating, NwSSU is now included in the roster of universities that are well-recognized nationally, have begun to attract international recognition, maintain a reputable level of teaching, and their graduates are attractive to employers. Institutions awarded with the said rating show potential in achieving international education standards and undertake complex research activities, experimenting with pedagogical teaching. Among the topics discussed were Lifestyle Diseases, Hypertension, Coronary Artery Disease and Healthy Lifestyle. The participants also availed free services such as Blood Pressure Taking and Cholesterol Testing.

56th ASEAN Month Celebration Kicks Off

Vital Signs in Emergency QRT
The Vital Signs in Emergency event was held in NWSSU-SJC’s Audio-Visual Hall from precisely 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM. Together with their organization adviser, the NWSSU Main Campus QRT members showed up early. The goal of the exercise, which was led by NWSSU-SJC, was to create a Quick Response Team (QRT) organization that would offer emergency medical aid. An AVP played the national anthem and a prayer before the show began. Mr. Eugene Calumba then went on to explain the program’s justification. In addition to sharing his ideas for starting a QRT chapter at NWSSU-SJC, he also provided some of his knowledge and experiences from managing his QRT members on campus. The NWSSU-SJC campus nurse, Ms. Mona Suzannae C. Jamin, then entered the stage to provide a lecture on vital signs in emergencies, emphasizing their importance and measurement techniques. She covered the many elements of vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, and respiration rate, in her lecture. She added that two other crucial elements of vital signs are discomfort and oxygen saturation. She also gives lectures on the many pulse locations and their causes. Practice and simulations were also a part of the session. Following the in-depth conversation or presentation, Dr. Getulio A., Director of RIE Barcenas Jr. gave the last remarks.
