On October 3, 2024, the Integrated Multimedia and Communications Office (IMCO) and the Office of the Institutional Supreme Student Council (ISSC) of NwSSU organized an engaging seminar-workshop on Documentary and Sports Photography at Business Development Center.
Spearheaded by Jake B. Calagos, Director of IMCO, and Mr. Jonathan M. Peru, President of the ISSC, the event aimed to immerse students in the art of visual storytelling, fostering a deeper appreciation for the power of photography.

The seminar provided participants with a comprehensive foundation in photography, featuring expert presentations on essential topics. Mrs. Ofelia Nuñez-Bulingking, Head of IMCO-Print Media, kicked off the session with “Basics of Photography: Capturing the Right Moments.” The session was followed by relevant discussions of equally renowned and award-winning photographers. Mr. Alfred Gregory E. Bartolome gave insights into documentary photography. Mr. Khadaffy Briones Manaog focused on the features of sports photography, while Joel D. Manadong addressed basic safety and perimeter for sports shooters. Each session combined theoretical knowledge with practical tips, empowering students to enhance their photographic skills.

Adding to the significance of the event were the opening remarks delivered by Engr. Rhio C.Dimakiling, VP for Administrative Affairs. Messages of support were also conveyed by Mr. Jake B. Calagos, CHRA, Director of IMCO and Mr. Jay Angelo N. Gohol, Head of IMCO-Digital Media. Following the informative sessions, participants engaged in a hands-on workshop, where they had 30 minutes to capture photographs around the campus. The outputs were then presented and critiqued, showcasing the creative interpretations and technical skills acquired throughout the day.
