Northwest Samar State University (NwSSU) garnered major recognitions during the ITSO Presidents’ Summit and General Assembly 2026 held at Diversion 21 Hotel, marking a significant milestone in the university’s advancement in intellectual property and innovation.


The University received the Platinum Award, second to the highest level of recognition given to institutions that have demonstrated strong performance and consistency in generating, protecting, and utilizing intellectual property outputs. In addition, NwSSU earned Special Citations for Copyright and Patents for successfully meeting the required number of applications, reflecting its sustained efforts in safeguarding and developing its intellectual assets.
Representing the University during the event were Dr. Riz Rupert L. Ortiz, Vice President for Research, Innovation and Extension (VP-RIE); Mr. Novlloyd E. Celeste, ITSO Head; and Dr. Ervin L. Rodriguez Director for Innovation.
These recognitions highlight NwSSU’s growing impact in the field of innovation and its continued commitment to strengthening intellectual property development and research excellence.
